Urban Economics
Scope of the Course:
This course aims to provide students with an advanced understanding of:
The concept of space in economics and location factors for economic activity;
The factors that contribute to the development of urban and metropolitan areas, and the differences between them;
The ways in which socio-economic factors influence land use (i.e., transport, government policy, demographics);
The intra-city location choices for firms and households;
The course seeks to impart students with knowledge and understanding of the theoretical concepts and methodological tools in Urban Economics, appropriate to an Executive-level MRE. This portion of the module includes training in the analysis of:
Urban patterns
Urban growth
Urban land use
Transportation
Urban housing
Government policy and finance
